Dolch Word List - sight words

The Dolch Word List was compiled by Edward William Dolch in 1936.
It is a list of frequently used words based on children's books of his era.
Sometimes they are called "sight words" because some of them can't be sounded out, and need to be learned by sight. Dolch words, or sight words, provide an excellent base for reading at an early age and have to be easily recognized in order to achieve reading fluency. Although the list is divided into grades, for native English speakers, all the words in the Dolch should be mastered by the end of 1st grade. wik
